I have to admit, I haven’t done many portraits or couples shoots lately…because I’ve been focusing my time and energy on my boudoir studio. Boudoir photography is definitely my #1 passion and when I moved to Vancouver I decided to focus on that niche and do what lights my fire. That said, because I’ve been shooting so many boudoir sessions I forgot how much I LOVE shooting with couples! I felt totally inspired and invigorated after shooting with Jen and Brandon. It helps that they are really cute too.

Jen and Brandon haven’t had photos done together since their wedding 5 years ago so of course it meant a lot to me that Jen asked me to shoot some updated portraits of them in their hometown of Powell River. Powell River has such a kitchy little charm about it…of course I wanted to take advantage, so we found an awesome neighbourhood to wander around and take photos of them being all cute n stuff. :)

She still laughs at his jokes. I love it.
Maybe (that’s the dog’s name) joined us for some ‘family photos’! She is so cute, and I adore how her tongue just hangs out of her mouth. What a goof. She’s all excited in the first photo because I asked her if she wanted a treat…my flips out for that word too! I love her closed eyes in the second one, could she look any happier?

Jen is a very good friend of mine and she lives in Powell River (on the Sunshine Coast of BC). She is also a very talented photographer (check out Kennedy Photografik) so of course it was an honor to get her in front of my camera! Jen needed some updated profile photos for her website and facebook fan page so when I was in Powell River to visit my BFF I set aside some time to shoot with Jen and her hubby (coming in the next post).

I am married to a very special man. A man I am so very proud of because he is excellent at a multitude of things. Earlier this month we moved to Vancouver, BC to begin a new chapter in our life together. Chad has decided to pursue his passion in Vancouver and is doing program design and personal training for people all over the world. His coaching is all done online, including skype consultations, so even if you are on the other side of the world, you can still have a face to face conversation with him. Pretty cool, huh? Somebody else came along to the shoot. He was a little jealous that he didn’t get any photos taken so he sat pretty and waited.And a shot of my two favoritest boys in the whole world.

This is Blake. She is one of the sweetest, funnest most genuine people I have ever met. She is also a dang good photographer! Blake and I have become very close friends over the last few months and I definitely miss her now that I am living in Vancouver. Thank goodness for Skype!

Blake asked me to shoot some photos of her for her website, facebook and twitter profiles. So, in between shooting boudoir sessions, we went into an alley behind the hotel on Whyte Ave in Edmonton and shot some fun pics! Amazing what you can get in the span of 15 minutes and one city block!

I love these two, she’s a hottie, and I’m not the only one that thinks so! LOL!

Paula and I met via social media. I can’t remember if it was through Facebook or Twitter…one of the two. I scored a last minute spot at Jesh de Rox’s Life as an Artform workshop, and since I wasn’t financially prepared for a big trip to Seattle I tried to figure out ways that I could possibly save some money so I could afford to go on this life changing trip. I put it out to the twitterverse that I was looking for someone to share a hotel room with and Paula came to my rescue. We had never met in person before, just had been connected through Facebook and Twitter. Granted, we both were taking big risks by agreeing to share a room since we’d never met before, I mean, look what she got herself into. She had to put up with crazy lil’ me for 4 days! haha!!

Taking chances can really pay off and I have learned this time and time again. I have a new, incredible friend in Paula. She is an amazing, loving, beautiful, strong and intelligent woman that I am proud to call my friend.

We had to reschedule this shoot like 2 or 3 times because of the stupid weather! Paula wanted sunny photos, and since sunshine is my favoritest thing EVAR I was totally cool with rescheduling (yes I just made up a word).

Waiting for this day was SO WORTH IT.

Paula was nice enough to laugh at my dumb jokes, that’s what friends are for.

I have so many favorites from our session but I’d say that this is one of my top faves:

Edmonton Engagement Photos | Lisa + Ryan

Lisa and Ryan are getting married on June 26…and guess who’s their photographer?? Me!! Yay! I am so pumped to shoot their wedding later this month, it’s going to be a blast. They are such a fun couple and their friends are super fun too. I’ve been warned about rediculous people, potential pants dropping and a motorhome to transport the wedding party. I have a feeling that my stomach is going to hurt on June 27, from laughing so hard all day at their wedding! I can’t wait.

They live in St. Albert, not too far from me actually, and I found a place about 5 minutes from our neighbourhood that worked well. We went for some more “Alberta-esque” (read – barn) shots for the engagements because we’re going to go for some city shots at their wedding.

The most random thing I’ve ever seen – about 50 dead lawnmowers in piles. We dubbed it “The Lawnmower Graveyard”.

Edmonton Maternity Photographer | Conor + Carilynn

Conor and Carilynn are friends of ours and their baby is due any day now! We did a quick session a couple weeks ago in a gorgeous little trail by our house in St. Albert…we had to reschedule twice due to crummy weather, but thankfully Mother Nature finally cooperated and gave us some nice light to shoot in. These two are so excited to become parents, and this little baby is going to be so loved.

Edmonton Portraits | The J Family

Last week Chad and I got together with the J family (aka, Chad’s sister, Jayda, her hubby Ryan and their daughter Grace) to take some photos. They are expecting a new little person to join their family very soon, in the next couple of weeks! We are all very excited to meet her…and I can’t wait to be an auntie again. I love being an auntie.

We started off just doing some relaxed portraits of Jayda and Ryan:

Little miss decided she wanted to get her photo taken in a couple too.

Nope. Not happening.

The photo below had me laughing when I was culling through my shots. Everyone’s expression says it all. Especially Grace. I just love that little stinker.
