Leah and I ‘met’ each other about 2 years ago through an online message board about Destination Weddings, because we both had one. Leah has been a mentor to me through this last year and a half while I stumble and soar through photography. She has also become one of my best friends. I’m kinda weird and she gets my sense of humor. Every time we get together we get the giggles…we’ve been threatened by flight attendants at 6am, received countless evil glares and we ALWAYS have great stories to tell after our adventures. I’ve had the pleasure of assisting Leah at 2 destination weddings – the Bahamas last year and Cancun this week. I’ve also been able to witness her boudoir magic in New York City. She’s an amazing photographer and a dear friend.

Of course, when we get together we like to play cameras. This time we actually got ourselves dressed up and shot portraits of each other. You can check out the photos she shot of me on her blog.

Photographing my friend was a lot of fun. I also was able to try some new processing techniques to really bring out the feeling in each image. Some of the images are a bit different from my normal style but I really like the artistic direction I have taken with them. Please let me know what you think in the comments below.

Susan | Portraits

Susan and I know each other through a photography message board. She’s an awesome photog and a really cool friend :) We met up when I was in Seattle last week and had lunch and wandered along the shoreline just chatting and laughing. Her little doll of a child Julie came along too. She is the spitting image of Susan and her hubby. SO CUTE!

She is so in love with her baby.

I just like this shot because of Julie’s face…I can’t remember but I think she may have been about to have a meltdown.

I just love her little face, she is so cute!!

James + Marta {Jasper Engagement Photographer}

Yesterday Chad and I drove down to the mountains – Jasper, AB to shoot James + Marta’s engagement session. It has been a while since I visited the mountains and I forgot how beautiful they are. Here are some teasers from their session:

I loved this spot, the dock and the scenery were so peaceful. Beautiful colors.

Chad captured these two, I love the connection in them.

Note to self: next time we go camping, lay on the spongy green moss…quite comfy!

Chad and I both think James looks like Robert DeNiro in this picture. Handsome dude!

Isn’t Marta gorgeous? She is going to be a beautiful bride.

Chad caught this one of me making them dance…pretty sure Marta thought I was crazy.

It was worth it though!

And lastly, check out that RING! James – good boy.

Mission Hill Estate | Wine Tour

While in Kelowna to shoot a wedding (teasers coming soon!) my husband and I took some time to drive down to the Mission Hill Estate winery for a tour. The property is amazing, the wine is delicious and I didn’t want to leave!

Those grapes were delish!

Love this shot…the building is a restaurant on the property.

The wine cellar…it was so nice and cool down there.

This is the room they rent out for special events. I want to shoot a wedding here… *hint hint*

Miami Architecture

I took a trip to South Beach back in July (right after NYC) and took some photos of all the art deco stuff. South Beach is so colorful – in both architecture and residents – and it’s so culturally different than the community I currently live in. I have always loved my visits to Miami and was so happy to be able to capture some of the details on my last trip.

Back in May I had the pleasure of working with Leah Stafford at Cindy and Bob’s wedding at the Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort. It was simple, elegant and a lot of fun. Cindy and Bob are totally in love and I LOOOVE that! Their family was a hoot too! Thanks to everyone for a great couple of days.

I know I’ve been posting nothing but nature and scenery shots lately so I promise this one is the last one for a while as I have a TON of portraits to post for your viewing pleasure.

I did a Trash the Dress shoot in the Dominican Republic with Brittany and Jay…ok ok so it was more of a romantic honeymoon/day after shoot but who cares!! These two are hot and totally in love. **WARNING** lots of kissy shots!!
