Cara and Jesse are a super sweet couple from Calgary, and decided to have their wedding in one of the most breathtaking locations in Canada; in the mountains of Canmore, Alberta. My close friend, Leah Aubrey came up to second shoot with me, and I am so thankful she was there! We had an absolute riot with Cara and Jesse and captured some really awesome images of their day.

Isn’t this bouquet unique? Leah and I both had fun photographing it ALL.DAY.

Cara and Jesse had a very intimate ceremony at the Silvertip Resort in Canmore. What an absolutely stunning location for a wedding!

Before we started shooting the couple getting ready, Leah and I went location scouting and found the most awesome little gully and forest area. The trees were so perfectly spaced and there wasn’t too much underbrush so it would have worked so well. Unfortunately when we returned in the afternoon to do portraits, we came across this:

Now don’t judge on the technical quality of the photo, Leah amazingly was able to photograph him before they both ran in opposite directions! Since Mr.Bear was hanging out in our pre-planned location, we improvised and shot in a different spot instead. I’d say it’s probably a lot better than our original spot, I guess things do happen for a reason…

It started to drizzle as we arrived back at the resort for the reception. You know what that means – DOUBLE RAINBOW! So intense!

Vancouver Wedding Photographer | James and Marta

James and Marta were my very first ‘stranger’ wedding. This means that I didn’t know them before they booked me, and they weren’t referred by a friend or past client. They found me out of the blue and I’ll admit, I was super nervous when we first met. That all changed once I got to know them, they treated me like I was part of their inner circle, and gosh does that mean a lot to me. The time I have spent with these two has been nothing short of awesome, and I am happy to call them my close friends now. I believe that because we connected so well and were able to establish a friendship before the wedding, I was able to approach the day with an open heart and really capture these two the way they are. The laughs, smiles, tears, (and nerves!)…I’m not sure I would have been able to get that had I not already understood them. The trust that James and Marta had in me was so incredibly powerful, and I sincerely hope that I have done no less than provided a vivid recollection of their amazing wedding day. Congratulations to my dear friends, Mr. and Mrs. Y.

As an aside, I was talking to Marta one evening and she told me how much she wanted the ‘Sex and the City’ Manolo Blahnik shoes to wear as her something blue. James could not figure out why some stupid shoes cost soooo much money, and why couldn’t she just wear something else. Well, it turns out that Marta and I are very good at convincing him. What Marta wants, Marta gets. So, I give you, the SHOES!

This room is absolutely incredible. It is dripping with luxury and amazing details! Atmosphere Wedding Planning and Design did an amazing job decorating the room for the wedding. The decor matched perfectly!James and Marta also enjoy hunting. Naturally they brought GUNS! Ack! Not gonna lie, I was freaked out!So bad ass.

Vancouver Photographer | Best Engagement Photos of 2010

I am extremely honored and excited to announce that one of my images was selected as ‘The Best Engagement Photos in Canada, 2010′ by Bride.ca! I am so flattered as there were so many gorgeous images submitted by amazing photographers across the country. My image of Cara and Marc in an Edmonton wheat field made the final cut!

Here are some more images from the session. We did 2 looks, a contemporary lifestyle engagement session, and a vintage e-session, with wardrobe styled by the ever fashionable bride-to-be, Cara!

Congratulations to Cara and Marc for being so darn cute and for wanting a fun theme for their engagement photos!

Vancouver couples photos | Leah and Matt

You’ve seen this cute redhead before, it’s Leah, my friend from Ohio. She came to visit me in Vancouver and this time she brought her man, Matt, with her. I’ve known Leah for about 2 years now, and I have never ever seen her this happy. I am so glad she found Matt. He is always making her laugh, and he loves her so much.

We started out shooting around the Main Street neighborhood.

Matt goofing off…you’ll see several during this blog post.

Just love this moment between them.

Since I made Leah stand in front, she had to keep tabs and make sure Matt wasn’t making faces behind her.

He just can’t help himself…

We headed over to Kits Beach to take advantage of the sunset for the 2nd half of the shoot.

This is by far one of my favorite sessions ever, because it is so obvious how comfortable these two are with each other.

Hey there.

Do I look a little different?

Rebranding and setting up my new website and blogs has been a project I’ve been trying to work on for months, but I have been so busy with weddings and boudoir shoots that I just haven’t had time. Well I’m happy to say that I put everything aside this weekend and got it DONE! I am very excited about my new look and feel like it fits me.

Casting Call! | Vancouver and Vancouver Island

I am looking for some volunteers to do a concept shoot in coastal BC – Vancouver and Vancouver Island. I’ve been living in the prairies too long and am dying to shoot near the ocean!

I need a woman with her own wedding dress (that still fits!) that is willing to put it on again, get her hair and makeup done and have the opportunity to create some amazing images with me. If you have a willing groom, awesome! Maybe you have a dress but no groom – who cares, let’s get your money’s worth out of that beautiful wedding dress sitting in your closet.

If you’re not afraid to get your dress dirty, and want another excuse to wear it again, keep reading.

We won’t be ‘trashing’ anything but due to the locations where we will be shooting the dress may get slightly dirty, sandy, and possibly a little wet but nothing major. You will be asked to sit, lay down, and other various poses in your dress, so make sure you can do those things while wearing it – I know how tight they can be!

I will have a hair stylist and makeup artist to prepare you for the shoot at my cost. You will be volunteering your time and lovely face so that I may use your images in my portfolio and advertising. In exchange you will receive a DVD with edited images from our shoot, with printing rights.

If you’re interested, please send me an email with some information about you, and at least 2 photos of yourself – one where I can clearly see your face and another in your wedding dress.
